gifts through charitable remainder trusts
By creating a charitable remainder trust, you and/or a beneficiary or beneficiaries designated by you can receive annual income and make a significant future gift to benefit the West Side Ecumenical Ministry (WSEM). A charitable remainder trust allows you to make a gift using payment options that best meet your needs.
How it works
- You transfer cash, securities or other appreciated property into a trust.
- The trust makes fixed annual payments to you or to anyone you name.
- When the trust ends, the principal passes to WSEM.
Benefits of Charitable Remainder Trusts
- You receive an immediate income tax deduction for a portion of your contribution to the trust.
- You pay no immediate capital gains tax on any appreciated assets you donate (if you are one of the beneficiaries of the trust). A portion of the capital gains tax is spread over your life expectancy.
- You and/or your designated income beneficiaries receive predictable payments for life or a term of years.
- You have the satisfaction of making a significant gift that benefits you now and WSEM later.
Recognition: The WSEM Legacy Society
WSEM recognizes and honors friends of the agency who inform us of their intention to invest in the future of Cleveland's children, youth and families through planned or deferred gift arrangements.
